James Papafotiou

James Papafotiou is the Principal Solicitor and founder of James Papas Solicitors. After graduating from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Laws in 1972, James commenced legal practice in Sydney before establishing James Papas Solicitors in Parramatta in 1977.

Over the course of nearly five decades, James has built a reputation as one of Western Sydney's most trusted and respected solicitors — known for his practical, insightful advice, his genuine care for clients, and his unwavering integrity. He has acted for thousands of clients across virtually every area of personal and commercial law.

James practises across a broad range of areas including Conveyancing and Property Law, Wills and Estate Planning, Probate and Estate Administration, Family Law, Business Sales and Purchases, Commercial Leases, and Local Court matters. He has extensive experience in real estate development, having overseen the legal work for numerous apartment developments — including a major 200-unit residential project managed from initial plan approval through to the conveyancing and settlement of every individual lot.

One of the hallmarks of James's career is the lasting relationships he has built within the community. Over nearly five decades, he has represented generations of families — and today has the privilege of acting not only for many of his original clients, but also for their children and grandchildren. In 2026, the Law Society of NSW recognised him for 50 years of legal practice.

James is fluent in the Greek language, enabling the firm to serve the Greek-speaking community across Parramatta and Western Sydney with additional care and accessibility.
